Volunteer


Representing America's leading health charities is an honor. Their hard work save lives every day. There are a variety of ways to support one of our health charities. Perhaps you've chosen to make a financial commitment, but you can also give of something even more precious – your time. Many of our charities have ongoing local activities and could really use your help. The following is a list of volunteer opportunities offered by Community Health Charities and its Member Agencies:

BOARD OF DIRECTORS JOB DESCRIPTION

OBJECTIVE: Provide leadership in the successful completion of Community Health Charities of Kentucky’s mission and goals.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 1.    Approve and support the mission statement, establish goals and assure that goals and mission statement are being attained.

 2.    Determine and support an organizational structure, which complies with bylaws, articles of incorporation and all state, local and federal laws.

 3.    Establish and enforce policies, which determine conditions under which mission and goals will be attained as well as general operating policies.

 4.    Employ an executive director; establish duties and compensation; delegate authority to administer the operations of the organization; evaluate the work of the executive.

 5.    Provide adequate finances to meet mission and goal by working with executive to establish and approve budget and guarantee proper expenditure of all funds.

6.     Ensure that the organization has the necessary facilities, staff and material resources to meet goals and mission.

7.     Interpret and support the organization’s program, goals and mission to the community; exercise influences in helping the community understand what the organization is trying to accomplish.

TIME COMMITMENT:

Attend at least three of the four regular board meetings per year; attend committee meetings whenever possible; and serve on or two 2 year terms of office beginning in August of the year following the July annual meeting. Please not that the most important job of a member of the Board of Directors is to participate in the operations of the organization, and those operations are primarily conducted through our committee structure.

We need outgoing energetic folks who are willing to put their talents to use in helping to plan and implement our special events throughout the year, including our GREAT STRIDES Walks, Gala Dinners, Golf Outings, Clay Shooting Events and more!
